Association of Rice University Black Alumni Legacy Endowment
In celebration of 50 years of Black Undergraduate Life, Rice University and the Association of Rice University Black Alumni (ARUBA) are pleased to launch the ARUBA Legacy Endowment to promote diversity initiatives and substantially impact the Black community at Rice. The fund will be administered by the Office of Multicultural Affairs under the Dean of Undergraduates and will support efforts that further ARUBA’s mission such as:
- Enhanced support for student organizations, study abroad programs, and other student-oriented opportunities.
- Expenses related to student internships, externships, and job searches.
- Improved programming to assist retaining Black students at Rice.
- Funding for guest faculty lecturers who will enhance learning opportunities for Black students or present culturally relevant topics.
Multicultural Affairs Student Organizations
This fund is used to allow additional financial support to cultural organizations that host programming available to the entire campus. A past event included International Night, where students experienced new traditions and foods from a variety of regions.
Office of Multicultural Affairs
This fund will help support programming hosted by the Office of Multicultural Affairs. We have a Diversity Facilitators program that provided a diversity workshop to all incoming students during Orientation Week and leads weekly discussions available to the entire campus. This fund supports the professional development of students and staff so they are aware of higher education trends.
Rice Gay Lesbian, Alumni, Award (RGLAA) Endowment
This endowment primarily funds the annual Rice Alumni Pride (“RAP”) award for Rice University’s GLBT community and is designed to encourage and reward leadership in and service to the gender and sexually diverse community, both on campus and beyond the hedges.
Rice University Community of Asian Alumni (RUCAA) Legacy EndowmentIn celebration of 100 years of Asian Alumni at Rice University, several RUCAA group members came together to establish the RUCAA Legacy Endowment. This endowment provides financial support to Rice student organizations/clubs or initiatives that enhance the undergraduate or graduate experience, promote diversity and have a positive impact on the Asian and/or Asian-American student community at large at Rice.
Rice has many cultural groups which can be found on https://oma.rice.edu/student-organization-overview. If you are interested in supporting specific cultural organizations please contact Sara Rice Shafer at (713) 348-5848 or sarar@rice.edu
