The Medical Humanities Research Institute is dedicated to research that addresses the most pressing issues in health and medicine that science alone cannot solve. We bring humanities perspectives and a dedication to meeting patient priorities as we work alongside clinicians, engineers, and scientists to design solutions. In order to meet the growing demand for Medical Humanities research at Rice, in the Texas Medical Center, and beyond, we must attract and sustain preeminent researchers and scholars. New investments will allow us to expand our research expertise; advance opportunities for student research; create new training opportunities for students and clinicians; recruit postdoctoral research fellows; support faculty research that engages with the Texas Medical Center; and foster local and international collaborations.
By strengthening the Medical Humanities at Rice, we will ensure that large numbers of Rice students graduate as humanist scientists and scientifically engaged humanists, thereby capitalizing on the established strengths of our faculty while enhancing Rice’s reputation as a socially and ethically engaged research university.
Every gift, no matter small or large, makes an impact.
Whether you choose to give back through an annual gift, establishing an endowment or supporting another funding priority, every dollar counts. In fact, most gifts to Rice are less than $1,000 but together they add up to millions for student opportunities, academics, research and programs so we can educate leaders and tackle grand challenges. If you are interested in discussing how you can make a non-cash gift such as appreciated stock, Donor Advised Fund (DAF), IRA Charitable Rollover, or through a deferred gift vehicle such as a bequest, please contact Emily Stein. We would love to help facilitate that donation.
Your official tax receipt will automatically be sent to the email address you provide. Your investment provides a distinctive academic experience that encourages top research from our faculty and prepares our graduates to lead and succeed throughout their careers.
For any questions please contact Emily Stein (Senior Director of Development, Humanities) at 713-348-3424 or emily.m.stein@rice.edu.
