In celebration of 50 years of Latinx and Hispanic identifying undergraduate life at Rice, the Society of Latino Alumni of Rice is pleased to launch the Raíces a Ramas (Roots to Branches) Endowment to promote cultural programming as well as personal and leadership development that celebrates Latinx and Hispanic life. The fund will support initiatives, activities and events that further SOLAR’s missions. It is SOLAR’s preference that the funds will be spent according the following prioritization:
1. Cultural programming that supports Latinx and Hispanic life at Rice, including funding of events, celebrations and activities as well as Latinx and Hispanic oriented student organizations
2. Enhanced programming to support the personal and leadership development of Latinx and Hispanic identifying Rice students which could include but is not limited to conferences, travel, registrations, volunteer opportunities, retreats and workshops
3. Expenses related to the pursuit of educational opportunities including study abroad, senior theses, culturally relevant study, internships and externships, job searches and heritage language study
This fund will be administered by the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
Contributions to the Raíces a Ramas endowment will serve as direct contributions to the establishment of the fund, which has an initial goal of $50,000.
