Thank you for your interest in supporting the Office of Strategic and Educational Initiatives as we work to advance excellence and equity in Rice undergraduate education. A gift of any amount will enhance OSEI's impact on students and faculty.
A gift to the Office of Academic Support for Undergraduate Students will directly support the compensation and leadership development of the undergraduate Peer Educators who facilitate learning in 50 courses; expand training opportunities to undergraduate and graduate TAs in hundreds of courses across campus; enable workshops and learning resources focused on discipline-based skills; and enhance technologies for the new accommodated Testing Center.
A gift to the Office of Undergraduate Research and Inquiry (OURI) will enhance and expand centralized support for faculty to develop and implement research-rich curricula and to offer mentored opportunities in undergraduate research, design, and creative work.

A gift to the Sustaining Excellence in Research (SER) Scholar Gift Fund will support freshman and sophomore students in the STEM disciplines who are invited to participate in the SER Scholars Program, based on a constellation of factors relevant to the student’s academic preparation for the science and engineering course work at Rice. Students who participate in the program receive support to achieve academic excellence. They attend regular mentoring meetings with program staff, and are paired with faculty mentors to work on research projects that allow them to gain and apply skills in their chosen fields.

A gift to the Summer Undergraduate Research Fund (SURF) will provide support for stipends for freshmen and sophomores who are seeking a first or other early career research opportunity to conduct summer research with a Rice faculty mentor.

A gift to the Rice Emerging Scholars Program will support students that participate in a comprehensive college transition and success program that combines a rigorous six-week academic summer bridge program with personalized and holistic mentoring and support for the duration of the college experience for STEM students from under-resourced communities. RESP’s mission is to ensure that students of high potential who attended under-resourced high schools, particularly low-income and first-generation students, persist, thrive, and graduate at the same rate as their peers, and that these students achieve their academic and professional aspirations as scientists and engineers.
A gift to the Take Flight STEM Pathway Program will help high-achieving Houston-area community college students from under-resourced and historically excluded backgrounds to “stay in STEM” and become “transfer ready” as they complete their 2-year degrees and look to transition into 4-year STEM degree programs. Your gift would enable us to fund stipends for summer research at Rice, enhance and expand annual event programming for Take Flight students, and sustain the newly established Take Flight Alumni Ambassador Program which allows Take Flight alumni enrolled at Rice to “pay it forward” as mentors for current Take Flight students.
