Rice is ranked No. 1 in the nation for students majoring in Kinesiology. The Houston Methodist - Rice University Center for Human Performance opened during the 2023 fall semester providing our undergraduate students with unprecedented access to research opportunities and innovations right here on campus as well as in the world’s largest medical center with the Houston Methodist Orthopedics Department and Academic Institute. Starting in 2024 Kinesiology students will have a dedicated summer internship program in addition to placements during the semester. Your contributions can support these student interns for this career-impacting experience.
Below you’ll find some funding options in the drop-down menu. The Kinesiology Department fund creates access and makes available to student the supplies, equipment and training that enhances their academic career including these new internship opportunities. The Hermance Award recognizes an outstanding senior in each of our two programs and continues to honor the memory of Dr. Gilbert Hermance for whom the award is named.
There is so much more to share about how the Kinesiology Department is growing and evolving, including creating a state-of-the-art teaching laboratory with synthetic cadavers, establishing a graduate program and potential professional science masters, and recruiting tenure-track faculty to our ranks.
