Thank you for your interest in supporting the Sustaining Excellence in Research (SER) Scholars Program! The goal of the Sustaining Excellence in Research Scholars program is to introduce STEM students to the world of science and engineering early in their career by matching them with research internships and engaging the students in a diverse community of scholars.

Sandra Whaley Bishnoi led this innovative program to improve diversity and persistence of STEM students from 2014-2018. She was a dedicated and compassionate leader, working tirelessly to ensure that first generation college and minority students had the best opportunities to pursue their interests in science and engineering. The SER Scholars Program provides students with specialized project-based lab courses, peer and faculty mentoring, and paid research experiences in labs across Rice and the Texas Medical Center. Under her guidance, the program showed significant improvement on STEM retention, especially among female and under-represented minority students.
With your support, the Sandra Whaley Bishnoi Fund will honor Sandra’s leadership and legacy in perpetuity through this endowment, continuing to provide these meaningful opportunities to deserving students.
