Please make your credit card gift by 11:59 p.m., Central Standard Time, December 31, 2024, to receive a tax deduction for calendar year 2024.
Thank you for your interest in making a gift to support Student Success Initiatives. A gift of any amount can greatly impact our students’ experience.
A gift to the Access, Opportunity & Inclusion Gift Fund will support discretionary funding requests distributed by the Dean of Undergraduates and his/her designee. These requests can include (but are not limited to) diversity and cultural programming, or financial support for low-resourced students (for example, internship related expenses, test preparation, travel to advanced degree interviews, textbooks, course fees, financial emergencies, commencement regalia, tickets to Rice events, medical co-pays).
A gift to the First Generation and Low-Income Student Gift Fund will support programming, education, and other resources (outside of financial) for first generation and/or low-income (FLI) students. A first generation student is a student for which at least one parent/guardian does not have a bachelor's degree. The Student Success Initiatives' (SSI) hosts a variety of events for this student population, including FLI Fridays hosted by the FLI Ambassadors. These students host bimonthly Friday lunches where they connect FLI students with Rice faculty and staff that also identify as first generation or low-income.
A gift to First Year Programs provides support for the successful orientation and transition of all new students to Rice University. We use the term new students to be inclusive of all incoming students - first time college freshmen, transfer students, and international students. For most students and families, their introduction to SSI will occur with orientation or O-Week. This week-long program will allow students to become acclimated to the intellectual, social, and individual aspects of Rice.
A gift to the Food Insecurity Fund will support food insecurity efforts for Rice students, which includes but is not limited to providing meal swipes/meal plans, granting student financial requests for groceries, or purchasing food for the Student Success Initiatives Pantry.
A gift to the Pantry will support visitors who have access to non-perishable food and hygiene products. The Pantry operates on a good faith basis and is an anonymous resource for all students, faculty, staff, and community members. It is our goal to ensure The Pantry is a space where individuals feel welcome and that this is an accessible resource.
A gift to the Rice Emerging Scholars Program will support students that participate in a comprehensive college transition and success program that combines a rigorous six-week academic summer bridge program with personalized and holistic mentoring and support for the duration of the college experience for STEM students from under-resourced communities. RESP’s mission is to ensure that students of high potential who attended under-resourced high schools, particularly low-income and first-generation students, persist, thrive, and graduate at the same rate as their peers, and that these students achieve their academic and professional aspirations as scientists and engineers.
