For nearly seven decades, Rice University, the Glasscock School and the Rice Center for Education collectively have been making this investment through rigorous teacher preparation and professional development programs strategically formatted to span the PreK-12 continuum. We believe the nation’s public schools represent our greatest hope for educating and preparing students for the future, and our schools’ success is dependent not only on equipping teachers for the classroom, but as leaders for their campuses.
Rice trained teachers stay in the classroom, and excel in their work. Public schools need more Rice trained teachers. But, to attract the best and brightest to our programs, we must offer more financial support to our students. Our students are recent college graduates or active teachers and principals, working on an educator’s salary. Many were first generation college students, now inspiring the next generation of college aspirants. Scholarship funds are essential to growing our program.
If you are interested in discussing how you can make a more significant impact on placing more Rice trained teachers in Houston regional public schools through your current or long-term philanthropy, or to make a gift through appreciated securities, wire transfer, Donor Advised Fund (DAF), IRA Charitable Rollover, or through a deferred gift vehicle such as a bequest, please contact Courtney Tardy at (713) 348-4881 or ctardy@rice.edu. Where one chooses to invest their resources is a tremendous indicator of what they value. On behalf of the Glasscock School community, thank you for investing in the Rice Center for Education.
P.S. When you make a gift towards our Education programs, please consider making a recurring gift.
