Join Rice Business Alumni Relations and the Liu Idea Lab for Innovation and Entrepreneurship on Wednesday, November 11 at 12 pm CT for a presentation by Dr. Jeff Frey '10, whose own research shows that companies with founders that have higher emotional intelligence have better business outcomes. Dr. Frey will share both the academic definitions and practitioner benefits of boosting emotional intelligence for entrepreneurs

Dr. Jeff Frey is the VP of Innovation at Talent Path, a startup bridging the gap between traditional technology education and employer expectations. He also teaches at select institutions on topics of innovation, intrapreneurship, entrepreneurship, and technology management. Dr. Frey advises corporations and tech startups on new ideas, funding models, talent strategies, and more.
Practitioner and scholar, Dr. Frey has been a heads-down coder and worked his way up to C-level executive through cross-industry technology innovation and decisive executive leadership. He has led information technology and innovation divisions in nuclear, oil and gas, space science, higher education, nonprofit, and healthcare sectors from companies like McDermott International to MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research on emotional intelligence in the workplace has been featured in multiple news outlets as well as a TEDx talk.
Dr. Frey holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Kent State University, an Executive MBA from the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University, and a Ph.D. concentrating in Emotional Intelligence from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Frey is married, has two young boys, is an avid triathlete, musician, and volunteers at several nonprofit agencies.
