A Message From Dean Gorman

Dear Rice Parents and Families,

The start of a new academic year is always a wonderful time. As we welcome new and returning students to campus we are also welcoming President Reginald DesRoches, Rice’s eighth president, who just started his term in July. Additionally, we are pleased our new provost, Amy Dittmar, joined our community on August 1. With these dynamic new leaders, as well as an engaging and in-person Rice experience for our students, we are certainly ready for an impactful school year.

We are continually mindful of maintaining a safe and healthy environment while encouraging students to engage in the full breadth of the campus experience. I look forward to seeing our Owls take advantage of residential college life and student-centered activities and organizations as they grow their interests and get involved in the things that matter most to them.

For now, I extend my welcome again to all of our students and to our parents and families. I hope to see many of you at Owl Together, our Homecoming & Reunion and Families Weekend, on Oct. 28-29.

Sending my best wishes,

Bridget Gorman, Dean of Undergraduates
