Owls take on inaugural AAC Media Day

Head coach Mike Bloomgren and four players represented Rice University at the American Athletic Conference Football Media event in Arlington on July 24-25.

Bloomgren was joined by quarterback JT Daniels, wide receiver Luke McCaffrey, linebacker Myron Morrison and defensive end Josh Pearcy, as the Owl representatives got their first taste of AAC media.

The Owls' inaugural appearance at the event opened on Monday afternoon with a series of photo and video shoots, followed by the American Kickoff Dinner. Activities concluded with various media sessions on Tuesday morning.

Rice will open its 2023 training camp Aug. 2 to begin preparations for the season opener in Austin against the University of Texas Sept. 2.

The Owls open their home schedule the following week by hosting the University of Houston in the 42nd Bayou Bucket. They make their AAC debut on the road against the University of South Florida (USF) on Sept. 23 and host East Carolina University (ECU) the following week in their first home game in the new conference.
