In 2018, for the first time in Rice University history, more than 27,000 students applied for admission— an increase of 30 percent over the previous year. This unprecedented surge surprised even optimistic enrollment administrators, who had been anticipating a substantial growth in applicants.

Rice’s graduate entrepreneurship program ranked No. 3 in the nation |
|
Rice University and its Jones Graduate School of Business have the No. 3 graduate entrepreneurship program in the U.S. and No. 1 in Texas, according to the 2019 rankings announced by the Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine. This marks Rice’s third year in a row that the program is ranked in the top three nationally and the 10th year in a row the school has been ranked in the top 10.

Shirley Fregly ’88 knows all about the benefits of residential college life. As a student at Brown, she learned that exchanging different ideas and opinions can be educational and invigorating. 2018 was good to Rice. Our community celebrated the exciting groundbreakings of the Midtown innovation district, a new music building and a new home for the School of Social Sciences. We announced the Rice Investment because we believe that talent deserves opportunity, and we unveiled the Vision for the Second Century, Second Decade (V2C2) to guide Rice’s vision and plan for the next 10 years. We’re looking forward to all that 2019 brings!

Rice University Kinder Institute luncheon to celebrate Houston |

On May 13, the Kinder Institute will gather thousands for its highly anticipated, annual luncheon. This year, the event will honor Jeff Hines (CEO of Hines) and feature Professor Stephen L. Klineberg, who will share the results of his 38th annual Kinder Houston Area Survey — the nation’s longest-running study of its kind.
