A Message from Dean Gorman

Orientation Week was lovely, full of happy energy and many activities as we welcomed our newest class of Owls to campus. As you know, this was followed by a tragic loss on the first day of classes. My focus, and the focus of many others at Rice, has been on helping our students through this sad time.

Rice welcomes the newest Owls into the nest at O-Week matriculation

One of the most selective classes in Rice’s history, this year’s incoming class is composed of 1,163 new Owls and represents an acceptance rate of 8% for the undergraduate class.

Incoming Rice Owls experience Houston and service-learning through Moody Civic Immersion program

Civic Immersion is a service-learning opportunity for incoming students to engage in the greater Houston community while forming close bonds with their fellow Owls before they officially start their academic journeys at Rice.

Today is the last day for your Owl to order their Rice Ring!

Students can order on campus directly from Balfour to see a Rice Ring in person and for sizing. Students can also order online at balfour.com/Rice. The deadline for online sales is September 20. Students will pick up their rings at the December Graduate Luncheon.

Rice parents contribute $7.05 million in FY 2024
